On the 1st April 2012, we had our very first Passover celebration. The event took place in St. Joseph’s Parish centre and proved a most enriching and prayerful beginning to our holy week preparations.
The evening was attended by the clergy of the parish, Sr. Catherine, parishioners of all ages and a warm welcome was extended to those from neighbouring parishes. The focus of the evening was to contemplate the Passover meal that Jesus celebrated with his disciples prior to his death and that is celebrated today by many Jewish families. The Passover was celebrated to commemorate the liberation of the Jews from slavery in Egypt. The significance and symbolism surrounding the samples of the food provided was illustrated through a family role-play and the child’s questions were answered through explanations and scripture readings.
The evening was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended and we hope to repeat this spiritual evening next year as part of our Easter preparations.
