CHINA: Government urged to drop one-child policy.

November 12th, 2012
The country’s government has been urged to end its controversial one-child policy. In a story carried by the Xinhua news agency, the China Development Research Foundation, a government think-tank, is set to release a report on China’s demographic make-up which points towards a need to phase out the one-child policy.

Specifically, the foundation suggests a gradual ending to the policy, with parents being allowed to have two children by 2015, and a complete end to limits by 2020.

The foundation report comes as the Communist Party of China gathers today (November 8) for a congress to reveal the next generation of Chinese leaders.
